Sleepers are generally players who haven’t been a fantasy star in the past, so the obvious choices like Chris Johnson and Adrian Peterson won’t be listed here.
Ryan Matthews – San Diego Chargers
We all know the fantasy stud that LaDanian Tomlinsson was in San Diego, now that he has gone to New York. There is a great opportunity for Ryan Matthews to take over the reigns and run your team to a championship win.
Shonn Greene – New York Jets
Greene lit it up during the Jets playoff run and is sure to be a big part of the Jets offensive plans this season, there still some question marks over Mark Sanchez and Jets will lean on there running game like they did last season. Tomlinsson may be in town but the bulk of carries should go to Greene, Tomlinsson may take some goal line carries away from Greene.
Jahvid Best – Detroit Lions
The Lions added a couple of receiving threats for Stafford, which now gives them Calvin Johnson, Nate Burleson and Tony Scheffler in the passing game. This could also help there running game and maybe Jahvid Best will be the one that benefits from this. There has to be concerns over Kevin Smith in Detroit, he hasn’t ever managed a 1,000 rushing yard season, so the door is open for Best. I would advice trying to draft both Best and Smith if you can but take Best first.
Justin Forsett – Seattle Seahawks
Forsett showed some signs last season of being a potential good running back in Seattle, since LenDale White has went out the door there, there is a chance for Forsett to cement himself as a starter in Seattle.
C.J Spiller – Buffalo Bills
With Fred Jackson and Marshawn Lynch in Buffalo, its going be difficult to rely on any one of them as a starting running back but Spiller has that home run potential and I suspect Buffalo will be relying very heavily on the run and screen plays. It would help greatly if Lynch was traded out of Buffalo but for now Spiller is still worthwhile drafting.
Matt Forte – Chicago Bears
Forte was fantasy relevant in his rookie year but not so much last season, with pass happy Mike Martz as the Bears offensive coordinator. It is easy to overlook any of the Bears running backs but during Forte’s rookie year, he was the bears leading receiver and could figure to be worthwhile flex option in leagues that give points for receiving yards
